National Pest Management Month (NPMM)

National Pest Management Month – April 2025

Protecting Homes, Health, and Communities

Every April, National Pest Management Month (NPMM) is observed to recognize the vital role that pest control plays in safeguarding homes, businesses, and public health. Spearheaded by the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), this month-long awareness campaign highlights the importance of pest prevention and the professionals who work tirelessly to keep our environments pest-free.

Why Pest Management Matters

Pests are more than just a nuisance—they can cause serious damage to properties, contaminate food, and spread diseases that impact human health. Effective pest management is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment.

Common pests can carry and transmit diseases such as:
✔ Mosquitoes – Zika Virus, West Nile Virus, Malaria
✔ Rodents – Hantavirus, Salmonella
✔ Ticks – Lyme Disease

How to Keep Pests Away

Preventing pest infestations is easier than you think! Here are some simple yet effective steps you can take:

✅ Seal Cracks & Openings – Close gaps around doors, windows, and foundations to block entry points.
✅ Eliminate Standing Water – Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water, so remove any pools of water around your home.
✅ Trim Bushes & Trees – Keep tree branches and vegetation trimmed away from your house to prevent pest access.
✅ Install Window & Door Screens – Prevent pests from flying or crawling indoors while allowing fresh air in.
✅ Remove Nests & Webs – Regularly check for and remove wasp nests, spider webs, and other pest harborage sites.
✅ Apply Pest Control Barriers – Using safe and effective pest control treatments around your home’s perimeter can help prevent infestations.

The image highlights a house with sealed cracks, trimmed bushes, and no standing water, emphasizing pest prevention. Around the perimeter, mosquitoes and ticks are clearly depicted, being repelled by the protective shield around the house. The atmosphere is bright and welcoming, with a clear blue sky.
