May is Lyme disease awareness month! According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the United States with about 30,000 cases reported by local and state health departments each year. Since many diagnosed cases go unreported, some estimates indicate that the actual number of annual U.S. cases may be much higher.
