As warmer weather arrives, mosquito season begins to ramp up in Jackson County. Early spring is the perfect time for residents to take simple steps that reduce mosquito breeding around homes and neighborhoods. A few high‑impact actions include:
• Dumping and draining standing water in buckets, plant trays, tires, and yard items.
• Checking window and door screens for holes or gaps.
• Clearing gutters and downspouts so water can flow freely.
• Refreshing birdbaths and outdoor pet water dishes at least once a week.
• Walking your property to look for anything that may collect water after spring rains.
These small efforts help reduce mosquito populations before they grow.

If you notice mosquito activity, standing water you can’t remove, or areas of concern, you can call our office or submit a service request online.
JCVCD remains open during our normal office hours — Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
