Eliminate Standing Water to Reduce Mosquito Breeding

Protect Your Home: Eliminate Standing Water to Reduce Mosquito Breeding

Mosquitoes aren’t just a nuisance—they can spread diseases. One of the easiest ways to keep mosquito populations down is by removing standing water around your home. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in stagnant water, and even small amounts—like water collected in a flowerpot or an old tire—can turn into a breeding ground.

What You Can Do:

✅ Empty & Drain – Regularly dump out water from containers like buckets, birdbaths, plant saucers, and wheelbarrows.

✅ Check for Hidden Pools – Inspect gutters, tarps, and any areas where water collects after rain.

✅ Store Items Properly – Keep outdoor equipment, toys, and garden supplies turned over so they don’t trap water.

✅ Maintain Ponds & Pools – If you have water features, keep them treated or stocked with mosquito-eating fish.

✅ Cover Water Sources – If storing water for gardens, use tight-fitting lids or mosquito-proof screens.

Even a few minutes of cleanup can make a huge difference. By taking action now, you help protect your family and community from mosquitoes.

Stay vigilant, stay bite-free! 🦟❌
