As mosquito season winds down in Jackson County, we want to take a moment to thank our community for helping make this year a success.
Thank you to every resident who called us to report mosquito, fly, rodent, or other vector concerns and welcomed our technicians onto your property to help solve vector problems. Your partnership is essential to protecting public health throughout our county.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booths and outreach events this year. We enjoyed answering questions, sharing information, and connecting with our community.
A special thank you goes to the residents who participated in our tire recycling program. Together, you helped recycle more than 17,000 tires, eliminating thousands of potential mosquito breeding sites across Jackson County!
This season’s success was truly a community effort. Residents dumped standing water, reported potential mosquito breeding areas, recycled tires, and took the time to learn more about vectors and vector-borne diseases. Every action helped reduce mosquito populations and improve public health.
While mosquito season may be ending, there is no rest for our technicians. Throughout the fall and winter, our field staff will be busy preparing for next season through:
✅ Fleet maintenance
✅ Trail and access route cleanup
✅ Equipment repairs
✅ Continuing education and training
✅ Mosquito surveillance data review and analysis
✅ Mapping and updating mosquito breeding sites
✅ Tick surveillance and pathogen testing
✅ Habitat assessments and field inspections
✅ Calibration and maintenance of spray and surveillance equipment
✅ Inventory management and supply preparation
✅ Seasonal facility maintenance and improvements
✅ Planning and preparation for community outreach events
Our office remains open during the fall and winter, Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We’re still here to help with:
