🦟 August is Prime Mosquito Season—Let’s Stay Ahead of the Bite! 🌞
Warm evenings, summer sprinklers, and late-season blooms… August has its charms—but it’s also peak time for mosquito activity in Jackson County. As temperatures rise, mosquito breeding increases in standing water that collects in yards, ditches, and containers.
Here’s how you can help keep our community protected:
✅ Dump It: Empty out birdbaths, flower pots, tarps, buckets—anything that holds water
🚫 Drain It: Clear clogged gutters and fill low spots in your yard
🐟 Stock It: Pick up free mosquitofish from JCVCD for self-contained ponds and troughs
📞 Report It: Call JCVCD if you spot standing water in ditches, ponds, or green pools—we’ll check and treat if needed, or you can submit a request online at https://jcvcd.gov/service-request/
🚪 Block It: Repair screens on doors and windows to keep mosquitoes out
Mosquitoes aren’t just annoying—they can carry diseases like West Nile virus. Let’s work together to prevent bites and protect our families and neighbors.
JCVCD is here for you—on the streets, in the field, and just a phone call away!
