About Us
For over five decades, the Jackson County Vector Control District (JCVCD) has been committed to protecting public health by managing mosquito populations and preventing the spread of mosquito-borne diseases. Established by public vote in 1968, JCVCD operates as an Oregon Special District under ORS 452, serving all residents of Jackson County with dedicated vector control services.
Our History
In the summer of 1969, JCVCD began mapping and treating mosquito sources across the county, addressing problem areas like irrigated pastures, log ponds, and sprinkled log decks. Over the years, changes in land use and industry have shifted mosquito habitats, reinforcing the need for proactive control measures—especially with the presence of West Nile virus since 2004. Today, we continue to evolve, using science-backed strategies to adapt to new challenges and protect our community.
Training & Expertise
Our licensed professionals undergo rigorous training and continuous education to ensure safe and effective mosquito management. Certified by the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA), JCVCD staff stay current with cutting-edge techniques, attend annual pesticide applicator and vector control conferences, and comply with all state and federal regulations. As public employees, we also prioritize ethical practices, public records management, and workplace safety to uphold our commitment to the community.
